โ€œThis is one of the biggest secrets of the most creative, happy, successful people: Just start.โ€

๐Ÿ“ฑ Challenge of the Month: Building an App

This month, I kicked off the year with a challenge to build an app in a month. Something that without AI seemed impossible but with its help, I was able to launch it into the world by January 20th. Far from perfect, but not bad for the first go.

The Key Takeaways

  • โœ… Daily Progress Matters: Breaking the work into smaller, consistent efforts was more productive than marathon sessions. Sometimes, stepping away and revisiting the next day made all the difference.

  • ๐ŸŽฏ Clarity is Key: Having a clear end goal and a well-tracked list of tasks kept me focused and motivated.

  • ๐Ÿค– AI as a Superpower: Tools like FlutterFlow's AI page builder and ChatGPT helped troubleshoot issues and brainstorm solutions. AI became my go-to coding partner.

  • ๐Ÿ“‰ Marketing Blind Spot: While I was able to build and launch the app, I overlooked marketing. Apparently, the idea of "build it and they will come" does not apply to entrepreneurship.

Next time, I'll focus on marketing alongside building, making sure that the product has market fit and doesn't get lost in the void.

๐Ÿ’ป Monthly Apps: Personal Growth Toolkit

The app I built was from an idea I had from 2021, a project called Accountabilibuddies. Originally a website to help friends stay accountable, I transformed it into a mobile app designed for anyone looking to manage habits, goals, and overall well-being.

The Impact

  • โœ… Create and track habits with streaks and progress visuals.

  • ๐ŸŽฏ Break down big goals into actionable tasks.

  • ๐Ÿค Challenge friends to stay motivated together.

  • ๐Ÿ“– Reflect and assess well-being with journaling and self-assessments.

The App Components

  • Habit Tracking: Custom habits, streak tracking, and reminders for consistency.

  • Goal Management: Visualize progress and break down big goals into manageable tasks.

  • Social Accountability: Invite friends, create challenges, and track group progress.

  • Well-Being Insights: Journaling, mood tracking, and self-assessments to spot trends.

๐Ÿš€ Final Thoughts

Going forward, I'll be shifting my focus back to building business-focused workflows and apps. The detour into personal B2C apps was a fun shift that highlighted some new areas of strength and exposed known weaknesses. Shoutout to Chase Jarvis for inspiring me and countless others to pursue creativity, and if you're planning your next adventure, I hope Buenos Aires makes your shortlist!
